I made my first geode cake about two weeks before I made this one. the experience with the first one made me want to make this one. I knew I had a Valentine's Day event coming up where I was making a cake for my friend's silent auction. I wanted to make a design that's popular but also fit the theme of the event, that I know would sell. I'm not sure how much the cake sold for but when I left it was the only one that had a bid!

I always get questions about how?! the rock part is rock candy, I just dyed the dark red in the middle that color. The pink is a color of rock candy that I already had. I used a paint brush and edible food paint to paint the gold around the outside perimiter.
